Titration Lab Handout
Download and answer the Pre-lab questions. Simulation instructions:
1. Select 'strong acid vs strong base' 2. Fill the burette with acid 3. Select HCl & NaOH as the acid and base 4. Select Bromothymol blue as the indicator 5. Write down the NaOH volume and molarity given at the bottom of the screen. 6. Then, use the 'slider' or the 'dropwise button' to add acid to the base in the flask. The 'Total Volume of Acid' added changes automatically as you add the acid. You need to add acid until the solution in the flask changes from blue to yellow. 7. Perform the stoichiometry calculation, enter your answer on #6, click 'OK' 8. If your calculation was correct - Great Job! 9. If not, re-do the simulation & this time don't get carried away with the slider. Add most of the amount, then use the dropwise button until you get the color change. |
